@stat Email Addresses

All Statistics Department members and alumni have a statistics email address in the format username@stat.washington.edu.

This address is a forwarding service only; no email hosting or storage is provided. Users must select a UW hosted email service to forward their statistics email address. Users can change where this email is forwarded to at: https://uwnetid.washington.edu/manage/?forward

Every user in the Statistics Dept (and Statistics Dept Alumni) have a statistics email address in the form of: username@stat.washington.edu

UW Email

The UW has agreements in place with both Microsoft and Google to provide hosted email solutions. These services look and feel very much like the "regular" services that these companies provide (Hotmail & Gmail) however a key difference is these services are provided ad-free and adhere to data protection guidelines that are set by the UW.

Forwarding your Email

Per University guidelines we will only forward email for current UW affiliated persons to a UW hosted email service. Currently this includes UW Google Mail and UW Outlook/O365.

Email forwarding to non-UW hosted services is available to Alumni.

Accessing your Email

There are several ways to access your UW hosted email depending on which hosted service you select, and whether or not you use a desktop email client, the web interface or both.

Email Options Upon Departure

Alumni have the option of enabling permanent email forwarding for their @stat.washington.edu email to any address they like.

  • By default: If a user has email forwarding enabled when they leave, we will automatically keep the existing forwarding setting.
  • If no existing forwarding is enabled: Users can request to have their mail forwarded by sending a request to help@stat.washington.edu
